Hi,

this little wire came loose and I don't know what it's for and where it went.
Anybody an idea?

and it came loose on both ends.
So the bolt you see broke and on the other end there is a plug that came loose
:-(

It looks like a grounding wire.
We also need the correct Discovery model (though it does look like a Disco 2) and year por favor senor.

BTW... welcome to the forum.

Thank you.

Well, the picture you see is not mine (my wire is gone ;-))
The Disco is from 2015 and it is a Td5 manual.
I replaced the rear quarter chassis and something went wrong because this wire came loose.

Thank you for replying!

maybe it is this wire but I cannot see where it goes (not my pic).
I don't want to take the interior apart to find out I am wrong.

I did, but this point is (as far as I understand) inside the space where the taillights goes (or just behind).
The wire goes up, over the hoses for fuel way up over the wheel arch, not to the rear.
:-(

So disappointing not being able to sort it out.

The important thing is what’s not working? If you have no anomaly’s ( electrically) then it Could well be a spare feed/Earth For a different speciation Discovery

Yes, I was thinking the same as you are.
But, . . from the broken bolt the previous owner took ground for the trailer.
After the chassis swap I reconnected everything 3 times the way it was (except the black wire, I took ground from the stud for the mudflap) and now the trailer brake lights don't work.
I changed the ground to the chassis but same result.

Also when I measure current on the brake light wire there is.
As soon as I connect the plug to the trailer all current is gone?

My guess is the wire does something.

I will have a look again this weekend.
I will disconnect everything and give it a retry, I think that's the best way

I think its the grounding wire for the filler neck/ emissions vapour seperator, It would be to discharge static , The filler neck etc is mostly suspended between the rubber grommit at the cap end a nbd the rubber hose at fuel tank.

Well, . .

this is the wire and yes it is to ground the filler pipe.

But I have this version so I think the wire goes where the red arrow is.

So the plan is to take out the filler pipe and reconnect the wire.
I can't reach it when in place.

Thanks a lot!!!

It is almost impossible to do so but I made it to re-attach the wire :)

Thanks a lot for the feedback.
Next problem; no brake lights on the trailer :)
