Hi all

just found this part in a box of spares from the previous owner. It clearly slots into the firewall and I think may have something to do with the heating system.. can anyone tell me what it is and how it works?

Yes I fitted one to my series 3 to get the charging up when boost starting other motors,
Thanks. Can you explain to me what the hand throttle is for and if it is necessary? How hard is it to install and what parts will i need apart from the actual hand throttle?

Cheers
Zac

From memory there are some rod linkages to match it up to the pedal throttle assembly but I would need to have a look at mine. Unless you run pto winches or ffr generators they do not have a huge amount of use, but as stated there are some benefits. I have a diesel so it is useful to set it to a fast idle on first start until it has fully warmed up and as mentioned above you can up the revs for other things like jump starting.

I used mine as a breakdown recovery Vehicle with a small Harvey frost crane in the back,
When I needed to jumpstart a larger diesel van/ truck it was useful to keep the revs up
( more power from the alternator) to start them,
If memory serves me it needed some Rivnuts and bolts and the linkage bolted directly onto the throttle arm under
The bonnet, mine was a 2 1/4 petrol

Mainly meant for use with a winch or other static equipment ie power takeoff / generator etc..
Optional parts catalogue shows all the parts
