last night i accidentally knocked my battery of my work bench cracking it :( so I'm looking for a replacement.

The size I cracked was approx 26cm Length x 18cm high x 17cm width

Obviously I want the biggest battery I can fit in the space. Searching by my reg on the kwick fit website it recommended the below battery. However the hight to the top of the terminals looks really high. Would these dimensions Case Dimensions: 345mm(L) x 172mm (W) x 213mm (H) Height Including Node Terminals: 238mm.. clash with the bonnet?

Thanks
I’m on my third battery, first was the factory fit Lucas 069 that lasted only four years :(
next was an Alphaline 072 L278mm W175mm H190mm, I had to drill a hole in the tray to move one of the threaded retaining rods over a few mill.
And now a Varta E24 072 L260mm W173mm H225mm, which just got under the AC pipe that leads to the heat exchanger at the front of the rad, it had to be dropped on to the battery tray at something like a 30 deg angle but it fits ok.

So if u have a similar length of battery tray the Kwick Fit item won’t fit, but why not measure the tray.

I have measured the tray width and length ways and I think it will fit. I need a way of measuring the hight as I cant see through the bonnet haha

Have a search as loads on this including threads I have done with a 1000cca battery fitted as my main battery

have an Optima (Yellow Top ) YTS5.5 in one of my 200tdi D1's, 'just' fits in the drivers side battery 'tray' & slightly diferent to a 'normal' battery & at 27kg a little heaviero_O

iirc, 975cca?

I will buy another if this one dies as it's been faultless for over 5 years:cool:
