Bled my front brakes again and took it for a test drive.

Bloody hell its a sharp stopper now.... New servo , new master cylinder, think it might need a new vac pump as it still goes hard if you pump on it a good number of times like its loosing vac, but hum how, real world how often you pumping the brakes like a maddy,

New servo and mc has stopped the sinking pedal it had ( which went though mot i should add)
 
Babysitting today as he has chickenpox! So when he was finally asleep I braved the torrential rain to observe water ****ing in through the windscreen frame clamp bolts and seal, and the windscreen seal....load of weather sealant should cure it, and I may attempt to replace the perished rubber screen seal with the nice new one that's been sitting in the workshop for about a month now, as soon as the rain stops that is!!
 
Got home to discover that some electrical bits and pieces had arrived so I went out in the early twilight to see if I could get my instrument lights to work again. Yes, after a few goes I got the new bulbs in the right way round and they look much better and brighter than what was in before. They're LEDs so are fussy about polarity.

Did you end up with a really bright spot in the middle of each of the instrument indictators?
 
Took out the single filament front sidelight bulbs to discover that they were 21w! replaced with the more civilised, and less likely to melt the 110, 5w ones.
 
Spent a rainy afternoon finishing things up ready for mot on the 23rd... spent way too long tracing a brake light fault...or so I thought....turned out I'm a idiot and and a few months ago replaced the tail lights with 10w bulbs instead of 5w....(I have 4 reds on rear..2 tail and 2 stop/tail) so basically you couldn't actually tell when the stops were on in comparison to the bottom tail lights! plonker
 
main beam been playing up all week and summet buzzing behind dash, side lights work fine so had a fiddle about and seems to be ok for now,poss dim dip jobby on its way out
 
First thing this morning I bled the brakes, just in case there was any air left over from last weekend when I renewed a couple of brake pipes. My goodness me - not a bubble. All the air must have come out last Sunday. I've never had the brakes bleed their air out so quickly and easily. The only thing I can think of is that the new piece of pipe I've put in doesn't tend to trap it in the same way the old one did. Then I bought some fertiliser and popped over to Wales to plant some baby trees. The Land Rover is now covered in mud and I haven't even been offroad yet.
 
I fixed it.
My brother and I removed the rear radius arms and changed the bushes nuts and bolts so it will now pass it's first MOT.

I modified it.
I removed the rear brake shield, and tow ball assy. The tow hitch is now up on the rear cross member. I'm in the market for a nice big recovery point.
We removed the center silencer, this was to allow for greater ground clearance and to hopefully make it louder.
It disappointed. The exhaust pitch and volume hasn't changed!

Only the rear box will change the sound noticeably, but clearance is good, and less to go wrong is always nice.

Today I gave up on getting mine back on the road in time for xmas. Sad day, but picked up the last of the tools to fit a spare front axle, and will work on it as time permits until I can get the seals/gaskets/bearings.
Will have to borrow the bumpercar till the new year.
 
Started to replace the swivel balls yesterday. Managed almost one. Bit of a problem this morning as the Mrs had parked behind me so had to walk to the tram station in the rain. :oops:
Managed to finish both by about four this afternoon, what a faff. I'm glad I dont have to do that every week.
The near side one I took off aint in bad nick if anyone needs one. Its the later type for hubs with arm on the bottom. No pitting just the lining on the top bush disintegrated.
 
Today started well changed over the steering damper easy enough. then removed the rear towbar for January trip. Fitted the inverter to the cab wired into a double socket. Then thought I'd have a check underneath only to find a bulge in the chassis to find lots of hole's so cut all the bad out ready for some welding
 
Removed my trailing arms - gave my new nut splitters a whirl in the process and some more upside down hack sawing was needed for one of the bolts...
Realised had forgotten to the chock the front wheels - going to be needing some ratchet straps for refitting :oops:
Swore a lot at the old bushes - burnt one out, tried to drill the other, due to the seized on bolt shaft preventing the bush from burning properly, discovered drill battery charger is fubar.:mad:
Gave up for the day when the outer race for the bush i managed to wouldn't collapse/pop out as readily as my radius arm bushes did :(
 
not today but last week i finally got mine back on the road after 6 weeks with a bust centre diff in the transfer box and heavily worn output spline on my gearbox. managed to get to yarwell on the 27th aswell. had a damn good day out recovered a few trucks aswell as being dragged out one bit myself. just need to clean her up again now. might get a bit of laning in somewhere local in the next few days if i can find any that aren't closed for the winter
 
I'm trying to change a dipped headlight bulb on my Disco II so I would like to wish everyone a happy new year for 2016 and possibly 2017 as I may not have finished by then.
