Checked axle oil levels
Cleaned axle breather pipes out
Swivel pin housing topped up with one shot grease

Running better already
 
Tried my best to polish and clean it and make it look presentable as I have to drive in a funeral preseason on Friday. Don't know if I will blend in too well :/

so i hear his name has been whispered in my ear lol not too far at all about 20 miles and i do need the help just cost me £278 to have work done on her today, £210 of that was labour!
 
Got my tangiers orange mixed up today in Newton Abbot, bit darker than I expected, now to decide what to spray?
My vinyl number plate arrived so that got attached to the vent, why couldn't land rover have made these the same size as a standard number plate.
And fitted the replacement temp sender to find that the gauge is still swinging right up to full.

you mean to hot? if it does it with just the ignition on and not the engine, then it's probably earthing out or the sender has no resistance.

no its not red its the one in my avatar and wasn't red before although does have some bits of red paint on it now does that count? :D

Ignition on goes straight to hot, I replaced the sender in January as the other wouldn't let the gauge move at all, that packed up on Christmas morning, gauge worked fine between June and then even after the 200 conversion in September, I used the petrol sender in the 200 to match with the gauge. New sender in January chucked the needle right round as far as the needle would move with just ignition on even first thing, new one does the same but a lot slower.
I have checked the wire between sender and gauge and that is fine, also ran a new test wire from sender to gauge and same result.

Have you got a multi meter? test the resistance from the wire into the back of the gauge to sender (when its removed from gauge), if its low (few ohms) then remove it at the sensor and test again, it should have no resistance. if it still reads only a few ohms its the wire

You could also test the sender by removing the wire and seeing what resistance its reads.

If there all fine then its the gauge, which can be tested by putting a resistor from ground or live (which ever goes to the sensor, which is probably ground but check) you could try a veritable resistor (twisty thing)
 
Over the last couple of days I have put the gearbox back In.
Built the engine back up. And made a couple of brake pipes up for the back axle.
Getting there slowly :)
