Started fitting a TD5 dash binnacle and clocks but the transducer is clicking and not sending a pulse (it works it you turn it by hand!)

Removed the bonnet, radiator and front panel in preperation to remove the engine

MoT and service by my local indie garage; yes, I do trust him.
MoT failed on a track rod end, but he replaced it OK. An advisory for "a slight oil leak", so I reminded him that it was a Land Rover and it was supposed to leak (either from the outside in or from the inside outwards), it's the law! Either that or it was the patented Land Rover chassis anti-corrosion mechanism.
He also did a full fluid change for me .... yeah, I know, I could do it myself but it's getting rid of the old stuff which becomes a pain.
I provided all the replacement filters and also the bits to repair the rear prop shaft. Well it's easier for him to do it with the Disco up on the lift waiting for the oils to drain out than for me to do it on a crawler board with it up on a jack.

put the rest of my sound absorbing egg box foam in rear roof section, cant hear the radio now, absorbed all the sound:D

Fitted and part wired up rear worklamp

Recovered van again on trailer, wont start:confused:

Secured the fuse box in place on the centre console.
Replaced an engine hose.
Blew a fuse trying to figure out if the coolant temp gauge is f*cked. (its f*cked)
Thought about putting in the low oil pressure lamp and wiring.

Well been busy again:

Fitted 2 new front wiper gearboxes.
Pulled through the CB coax.
Removed the dash binnacle and cleaned it all.
Pulled through the wiring for the heated mirror on the driver's side
Pulled through the multicore cable to the engine bay plus power cable and routed to centre dash.
Replaced the water temperature sender (with the TD5 dash compatible version) and topped up the coolant.
Altered the wiring to the dash to stop the trailer light flashing once when you indicate
Fixed the light in the hazard light switch
Fitted the Raptor trim panels
Fitted the pod for the Raptor top pod for my extra gauges
Refitted the Raptor centre dash
Put most of the dashboard back together following the major re-working.....

After I've been shopping I'm going to wire up the clocks to a multi-plug ready to install tomorrow.

Still plenty to do from my Christmas spending spree....

diff guards, steering guards, black chequer plate bonnet and wing covers, 2 sets of speakers, rear roof lining, sealant for the light bar, wire front winch bumper spots, finish the dash, some final wiring for the centre dash, adjust the front doors so they fit the holes!, fit the carpet in the back, fit the new exhaust, some hammerite touch up on the light bar, light protectors and winch bumper.

sounds good, any piccies :D
and where abouts are ya in the north west?

Fixed the earth problem on my O/S headlight, found a terminal block that was joining feed wires, which are, in my opinion, the work of Satan. Changed that for crimped terminals, and the headlight is no longer stealing an earth from the indicators and stopping them from working.
Also re-wired the O/S angel eye sidelight, best time to do it, when it's pitch black :D
Plus checked all levels of fluid under the bonnet.

Preston.

It's been a running rebuild since I bought it in July. Repairs have amounted to a front drive shaft, heater matrix, couple of indicators, exhaust, drop arm, steering box seals, tyre, both steering arms, wiper switch, wiper gearboxes, fuel pump, fuel pipes (send and return), fuel filter, air filter, change all fluids, heater plugs then I've cleaned up the wiring, welded the bulkhead, tube outriggers, battery box, footwell, bit of chassis, repainted the chassis and body, replaced the front doors with new 2011 spec doors, all the door seals, fitted sound proofing all round, central locking, electric windows, remote alarm with total closure, dual battery system, CB, stereo, Raptor central dash, raptor dash top pod, TD5 dash binnacle complete with TD5 clock, fuel gauge and temp gauge plus converted to TD5 speedo with transducer.... LOTS and LOTS of rewiring including bespoke fuse box & relay box.... Front winch bumper, bespoke roll cage/light bar, tree/rock sliders, front light grills, bespoke rear light grills to match the front ones, bespoke rear light bar, 13 lights (with all the wiring for the lights and antenna hidden inside the roll bar neatly....... Oh and respray, bespoke safari door trim made from aluminium chequer plate and two panels for each side of the rear to match the safari door and hiding the relay and fuse boxes........

Then quite a few additions tomorrow and over the next few days (safari door lock with central locking, diff guards, steering guard, chequer plate for bonnet and wings, new antenna)..... phew!

EDIT: Oh and fitted Mitsubishi rear wiper motor (because I had one!), replaced rear pump and wired it all up. Plus new wiper blades and arms.....

I've noticed a few Landy owners around the area who might be on here (2-4 landys on their drives and lots of extras!). After I bought the landy a friend at work told me his brother is landy mad and he has been my landy guru since then although I have done most of the work including some of the welding he did the really obvious welding and a number of other jobs as he is a professional :). I've done all the wiring etc as that is my bag.

Once this is where I want it I am starting a second vehicle, a series 3 109/discovery 300TDi hybrid..... I've got the original doors and a few bits from this car plus a series body and an MOT failure disco1 300TDi

Thanks. I'm starting to sub let part of an old service centre in the summer so it should be a lot easier. Over the last few days I have been limited by running out of light and it got quite cold and wet. Hopefully most of the jobs coming up are bolt on type jobs so it should be a bit easier.

We've started a bit of a craze at work..... One of the lads said he suggested getting a Landrover Defender 90 to his wife who is right up for it and given him an £8K budget. There are a couple I've found for £7000 which he should get for £6500 then £1500 on additional toys maybe......
