measured the width of boot one old caravan cooker unit and pack one of wardrobe unit.I am now in possecition of tea making,bacon frying hob and storage unit for my days out happy days pics to follow when finished.
 
Cleaned and painted the fan, air filter holder upper thing, battery tray, and bead blasted the oil filler cap and radiator cap. Was very pleased with that, so I went and sat in the sun and had a nice cup of coffee..:D ;) :cool:
 
Doing the yearly service over Easter holiday.

Yesterday I replaced the engine oil, new air, diesel and oil filters. I also replaced the differential oil.

Today I replaced the swivel housing oil. When I drained the housings, one turned out to be nearly empty (seemed like just a dribble of oil and some water came out) and the other side was completely empty! Obviously no previous owners had done this for a while. Glad I decided to do it.

Tomorrow I'll be doing the gearbox and transfer case oil then I'm done.
 
Fitted new aerial as old one was "inoperative", went to Halfrauds for some bits and TD5 started misfiring, temp and fluids all OK.

Eventually got all 5 cylinders and went home. Wouldn't start again. Removed engine cover, evidence of long term oil leak from rocker gasket and more importantly injector harness dripping with oil. Disconnected it, wiped it with a rag and working OK again (for now). Going to check ECU end tomorrow.
 
Fixed my oil leak from vacuum pump :) drilled the rivets out and replaced with bolts :D such an easy fix and now only got a tiny drip from sump bolt.
 
Well I am impressed.... My 12 year old... Kai, successfully removed the 2 1/4 engine from his 1979 series 3 today. I could not help him becuase my hands are in a bit of a bad state so all i could do was watch and offer what little advice I had to offer. True, it took about four hours hard labour, but he got the thing out and is bringing it home tomorrow to start stripping down ready fro the rebuild.

Good work son... really proud of you - now... can you have the motor ready for the Bristol show?
 
I'm going to read your post to my son then call him a pussy. If he takes his headphones off and stops playing world of warcraft i'll be proud too.

Fitted new water temp sender for my VDO gauge, bonnet catch fitted now need to trim it so it don't smash the inter cooler, then spent an hour looking for bits I need to fit a boost gauge. I have them just cannot find them :mad:
 
Gave silverlandy a wash with rain water out of the waterbutt (no hosepipe!) then towed my horse trailer to pick up probably the worlds biggest rabbit hutch for my step daughter...it only just fit! Next job picking up a ride on lawn mower, again not mine, but other peeps like my landy too :p
 
Put the side exit back on….lost too much power with the quiet exhaust :eek: neighbours wont be happy now but its smoking like a chimney and sounding great :D
