nipped up pinion bearing in rear diff, changed diff EP90, battered out my flattened wing and superglued the indicator back together and stuck back in, ready for saturdays play in the snowy mud or muddy snow which ever way it will be fun

bit late to post due to tottaly brainless noises on the end of my mobile when i complained about no landline or tinternet but,
had an alternator failure last week in freezing cold nor****,
RAC man tried to rob me fer £120 quid for another alternator, just the basic 200 DTi 65 amp version, told him, "NO"
well, not quite NO but summit more colourful :(

ended up recovery home !

so, got home and "found" 2 old volvo 55amp versions but way different mounting points, but,

laid out on me bench found out of the 3 original landie mounting points,
I could make the wide ally volvo fixing into one thinner landie type mounting point,
plus the one opposite the tensioning point underneath :)

so with a quick marking up of the wide ally case to landie sizes of thickness,
out come the angle grinder with thin cutting disc to cut around the now thin landie sized lug, then just trimmed the excess alloy case orf...
the lower belt tension one was just trimmed in thinkness to keep the (double)pully square with its drive pully on power steering pump!

with my belts and braces idea it was up & running in no time at all,
but with no third point of mounting, I just pushed a pit of rubber hose in the gap between alternator body & landie alloy hanging bracket helped by a dollop of sillicone
just to stop fatigue fractures - possably :)

now 4 days later I have odered a new alternator from ebay.... £60 with delivery ..

I previously had bought a "cheap" new drive belt !!!!!
WRONG !
its like a bit of elastic !!

will source a top quality belt or a industrial 9.5mm drive belt locally =
fit & forget :)

Washed it .. well, sprayed it with water and brushed it dopwn. Wish I hadn't, the feckin' scratches are unreal .. and found a couple more little dents, can't think (Wales) where I got 'em ... ;)

Straightened front bumper, bolted endcaps on. CBA to clean interior, it stinks of stagnant water and weed, feckin' Corwen Carwash, not so much a carwash as a car stinker ..

Checked all oils, axles, gearboxes and engine ready for Peaks on Sunday, all good, surprisingly!

Got a track rod end that's still knocking slightly, tightened it up a smidge, again, but really it needs a new one ...

Not emptied the boot yet, so will empty/refill tomorrow, supposed to be working right now!!
 
moved mine forward 10 foot this morning...... and then backwards 10 ft this afternoon.:eek::D
 
snorkel plumbed up ,new axel breathers fitted 2nd battery fitted , just need to wire in me tmax dual charging system now
 
Took the legendary wobbly steering wheel back. Like to see what mountney say. Hot the original wheel on which I actually prefer.

Priced supple and fit new steering box, bearings and get the stubborn diff plug out and fluids.
 
How deep was corwen car wash ? We're going tomorrow :)


Over 31" .. that's my tyre diameter .. definitely enough to leak a little .. ;)

I've replaced the injector harness on my TD5, in an attempt to cure the engine's tendency to cut out. I've been driving gingerly around the block not going too far away from home just in case, and it seems to be reliable now, so maybe I've fixed it. Put a nice new gasket on the rocker cover too, whilst I was about it. And what a thing of beauty. So soft and rubbbery, and so intricately made. It was a lot softer than the old one which appeared to have gone a bit crisp. So I might have cured some oil leaks too. I put new heavy duty drive flanges on the front hubs, and changed the wiper blades. Time for an oil change for both engine and transmission, which will be a little job for next week once I've bought some oil.
 
Emptied the boot, then chucked it all back in tidily, with the rear portion of my bed, probably going to make this a semi-permanent thing as it's only strapped in at the mo'. Moved the Hi-lift inside, bolted to the bed. I would prefer this nearer the seats for weight distribution, but then I'd have to move it every time I wanted to kip! Just needs a couple of wing nuts and the bolt cutting down and it'll be close to quick-release!

All off-road kit, spares, whatever fit nicely, there's an ammo box in front of the red and yellow boxes with chain and more ropes/strops in, but all-in-all it's quite neat and safer than just having the standard load cover over everything .. not that I intend to roll it, mind!!
