scraped all the mud away and underbody sealed the arches also wire wool'd the rust off my fender and painted her satin black as soon as i had finished the heavens opened so i might have to rub it down and give it another coat (bastid rain).
 
Working on installing a 200tdi Disco engine in my SIII:

  • bolted on some home made top clamps for the cooling radiator (Disco);
  • Tack welded lower mounts for Disco 200tdi intercooler
  • Chopping up bits of turbo pipework to join turbo to intercooler
 
Drove it up the top of a local hill to go mountain biking after servicing it :)

Had a bit of knockin' comin' through me steerin' so decided to investigate. Took the front wheels off to check suspension bushes, checked all the other bushes which were fine. Decided tae check the uj's on steering shaft and found the top one had a bit of play in it, went into town to get another one, bloke at me Indy came out just to be sure as he couldn't believe that it had gone after 13 months! He gave me another for free while he was still shakin' his head... pity it was another ****part one.
Anyways, ah'm off tae change it now and stick some rubber on me seat box;):D
 
Changed the steerin' uj and thur's more movement in it than the old one!!:mad: Phoned the indy up and they should have a genuine one for me on Wednesday:D
Got one side of seat box done in rubber, still nead tae cover the edges with summit yet;):D
 
took my landy for a spin down to Dorset last night to help out some fellow S*L*U*T*S:rolleyes:;)
 
Had a new rocker cover gasket (might stop her marking her territory now:rolleyes:) and handbrake cable fitted. Decided to get underneath to give her a bit of a wire brushing to remove any hidden/stuck on crud ... which promptly ended up trashing my white T-shirt:doh: .... Note to self: must not be too lazy to put overalls on!!
 
Been making a snorkel .... well, practising making the bends in drainpipe !!!! ;)

Lot of messing about at first, tried bending using a heat gun, easy to do but the bends crumpled and left bulges all over, inside and out. Then cutting and plastic welding, using a blowtorch! Not a good idea ... got some pics (if anyone's interested!) of the results and why I discounted them. Then decided to cut and glue .. haven't got 'proper' glue but as this is only a trial before I do the real thing I used gripfix .. nice blue colour so it shows up. Made a jig, cut my slots, bent the tube, glued it and held together with a strap.

So far so good, another installment shall be along when I do the real one and fit it .. ;)

Took about an hour with all the faffing and getting the angles right, but it ought to be worth it. Thinking about using a bicycle inner tube 'sleeve' over the joins too, or self-amalgamating tape. I'm going to make a similar bend at the bottom so there's less flexible hose needed, then work out how to plumb into the 300 Tdi standard airbox. I have a spare airbox and inlet tube I can play with and a few ideas, so once it's done and I think it's strong enough and watertight (obviously) I might think about making a few kits up and see if they sell!!

Would anyone be interested? No idea of price yet, depends on how the airbox attachment works and what it needs, but I'd reckon under £100.
