After seeing the damage brake fluid did to the skin on my hands I am all for rubber gloves. What sort do mechanics wear?
There are two types of mechanics gloves which I use, for wet oily work, brake fluid, old engine oil, etc. including coloured polishes:-

When I'm working with dusty or dirty, general muck, then I would use mechanics gloves or similar:-

Both types are throwaway and fairly cheap. Nitrile gloves are preferable to latex, especially if you happen to be allergic.
 
Yes, I'm trying to remember to put gloves on before doing dirty work these days as my skin isn't as tough or resilient as it was when I was young. A box of nitrile ones, and then some of those PU coated lightweight work gloves sorts me out. The latter are surprisingly good for detail work like putting nuts on and getting screws in holes. The only trouble is that when I'm using an electric drill or driver they tend to 'pick up' and wrap round the rotating bit which can be quite painful!

Salutary lesson there. Always try to keep fingers away from the dangerous end; the turny bits! :rolleyes::D
 
I had to pull a dead pigeon out from under the bulkhead removal bar.

Shame I did not have my camera with me, Seems to have been there a few hours as rigor had set in.

Very Bizarre..................:confused::confused::confused:

Oil and filter. Seem to have had a bit of a leak around the rocker so also replaced all rocker seals.
 
MOT tomorrow, so a good clean underneath and a few small bits and pieces. I adjusted the handbrake, made a little bracket to tidy up some wires and pipes and then made a larger one because the first one was too little, checked the lights work (again) so it's all in the lap of the gods now.
 
Checking over the Disco for the haul to Holland on Friday, found a tiny weep on the water pump, so whipped it off and slapped a new Bearmach replacement on after work.

Better now than en route with the big trailer behind!

30000 miles is about average for V8 pumps, the last one failed in the same way.

Got another spare pump in the trailer...

Passed the MOT. No advisories either. Seems like I've been lucky the last few times. Checking it over carefully during the couple of weeks prior probably helps. They're clearly not looking for new-car perfection, more like checking that all the safety critical bits are still held together and still work.
 
I mopped the dash pockets out as they were full of rain water......................
They were up to overflow point, not that it would have mattered.

Fitted an overhauled front propshaft yesterday, u/j bearing cups look like they are moving in the yokes, not good.

Taking it out for a long run before the weekend, just to make sure that she is running well after the past few months in the sickbay.
