Son got some longer power cables made up on Friday to fit to the winch and battery, then on Saturday we went to Kirton and tried it out there had a great time messing about getting stuck and winching ourselves out, then most of today was spent jet washing it inside and out :D
 
Oh forgot to say the +5" shocks and extended rear brake pipe arrived on Friday but the rear shocks was wrong ( top mount fitting ) our's is std fitment but we have decided to wait till we fit the new chassis and buy the mounts to suit as i think they would be better as with the std mounts and +2" shocks fitted the top mount rubber always looks like they are being forced up and there is always a gap between the mount and rubbers @ 20ish past if you know what i mean.
 
got one of the box section sills on at the weekend also fabricated the 2 body mounts. fabricated the reinforcing angle this evening and repaired the rear edge of the floor. hoping to hit it hard tomorrow and get the passenger side finished off then start attacking the drivers side sill
 
Got my new wheels and tyres fitted today, looks fantastic. But even more please with the way it drives, absolutely changed 100% better than before always felt a bit skittish on the road but now it's really well planted.
Will post up a picture tomorrow when it's light!
 
Took it down for it's Control Technic (M.O.T) Thought I would find out what needs doing before I got my hands dirty, It passed!
 
Got the passenger side sill and floor finished off. Managed to get the drivers sill made and tacked in place. Went out to it this morning and its raining. Should make for interesting welding
 
OK... a bit unusual this one: I have fitted new wheels. Genuine Land Rover pressed steel 5.5Jx16 ones in order to replace the aftermarket ones on the vehicle when I bought it. The Landy is the earliest V8 CSW I've ever heard of and I am developing a fetish for keeping it looking factory original!

Not that unusual! ;) Got a set of new standard wheels last year. Been very good, had 205/R16 on them, now gone to 7.50/R16 Fedima. :)

Thanks I don't feel quite such an anorak now :) The previous owner of mine was thoughtful enough to shoe it with some nice chunky 750R16 Michelin so I've just swapped them to some new standard wheels. I'll have to remember not to be a tight get and to buy some similar quality items when replacement time comes around!

Pleased with mine, originals had lasted 24 years, but going a bit rusty inside now. Thought if they had gone on that long, another set should see me out! :D
 
Considering my d1 is Ionian blue. What would you guys and girls say would be best for the shown side of the sills and the lower half of the door posts and the rear wheel arch on the door shut. I've done the whole of the inner floor with hammerite smooth blue. But not sure on doing the shown faces of the sills etc in the same blue or go for a more subtle hammerite black

I'd go for the Hammerite black; but it would be good to see pictures to really decide?
 
That's it done so the floor and sills are all hammerite blue. It just looks too bright compared to the Ionian blue of the body. But I don't know if it will grow on me once the doors are back on

Also what have people done to fit rocksliders on once changing to box section sills. I have a set of sliders that fitted like the side steps do. I'm looking to beef it up a bit but not sure how to go about it
 
Took one front radius arm to get start replacing all the bushes, got utterly sodden in the process
shat a brick when the front wheel moved after knocking the arm out... :oops:
knocked the OE bushes out (what a PITA of a job)
counted the hacksaw notches insode the bush housings from previous owners and determined this radius arm has 4 previous bush replacements :p
gave the arm a brush down and slap a coat of paint on it :)
 
OK this week: New Land Rover purchase so the massive temptation is just to fiddle with it instead of fulfilling all my real work commitments. Result = compromise: I've just had a *little* play with my V8 every day instead of doing what I want and spending all my time on it. So today I went out before I normally start work and took care of the last little job which had been waiting my attention: I adjusted the dwell angle on the V8 distributor. Holy Sh@t.... this week I have replaced the plug leads and fitted a new NGK coil, checked all the engine settings and fitted new distributor contacts. All the other stuff = general vague improvement in power and smoothness. 5 minutes adjusting the dwell = everything else coming into focus with bags of revs, torque, power and smoothness. Result. No wonder Rover bang on about the importance of this so much in the factory workshop manual!!
