anyone got a pic of the wiring on the back of the 200tdi single v belt driven alternator? I've been an idiot and not remembered or taken a pic before taking mine off so now I'm confused as to which wire goes where and the haynes wiring diagrams don't seem to tally up with my truck :behindsofa:

Fanatic came over and we sorted out some wiring on my landy.

Annoyingly when we came to fitting the reverse camera system we discovered that the screen doesn't work:mad::mad::mad:

Might be worth giving the solenoid a sharp tap with a hammer. Or removing starter and checking the mechanism that engages the gear with the flywheel ring.

I've had the starter off twice and cleaned out. I've tapped the starter whilst it was spinning. I've also had a gear puller on it just to make sure it moves up and down the splines. Might need a strip down and rebuild.

Good, shame it hasn't cured it. Much wear on the gear or flywheel ring?

Not much at all to be honest, nothing exxessive . very annoying but may well be the battery, it got charged up the other night but that didn't help. It started fine before I left it for a few weeks.

Least you can get your starter on and off easily. Mine was a bloody nightmare.

Trying to motivate myself today to finish my centre console. Then gotta drill out some wheels and take them to get them fitted before I clean out the back of the beast and, hopefully, go on a wee journey to perthsire to pick up a bullbar

Which way is the gear meant to slide on the shaft, towards the motor or against the heavy duty spring?

towards the motor, via inertia as the motor spins. (should be a light spring holding cog away from motor)
big spring is for when engine fires and turns cog faster than starter can, and throws cog out of mesh onto big spring.

put some diesel in it and then droe all way to work to realise when i got there i'd left my diesel cap on the pump!!! doh

Bought a new front prop shaft, took the old one off this morning only to find the new one doesn't fit. The one I had seems to be a much more heavy duty. The new one is standard. I will have to change the flange joint from the transfer box so the new one will fit. I knew I should have left it well alone.

Yesterday I finished fitting extended arches and wheel spacers. Then took wing air box and wash bottle off to repair two small holes in inner arches and now have many more larger holes to do. Then ran out of mig wire doh.. Learnt with discos the more you do the more you find. Will it ever stop?
