Good day, and a **** one at the same time. Replaced two barrels on the front locks. couldnt do the read because the nuts had sheered :/ fitted new power steering pump. bled and running nice.

Tried to start landy with a flat battery, it kept turning over when i took the key out but wouldnt start, turning over very slow, smoke coming from the starter motor ust before i managed to unplug the battery. so now when i try to start it makes a nasty grinding noise. is that a new motor??

And it sounds like there is a hole in one of my turbo pipes because that sounds bloody awful now :( 1 step forward 2 steps back!:ballchain:

Could be the solenoid

Many things done to the 200tdi in the shed since last update, all valves lapped into the head, new stem seals fitted, valve springs, top valve spring seats and tappet covers. Cylinder head fitted and also rocker shaft and rockers. Just waiting for the injector pump and injectors back from the Bosch specialist and then all the timing can be set, then it's pretty much ready to bolt in :)

stripped the ply sides and insulation from the rear of the 110, prior to fiting me new sides. and tried to fit me new dog guard. To discover the fooking thing weren't designed to fit a traccta. Too bloody wide and not high enough  Bought it off a longterm member on ere anorl  I reckon he should be banned :D :D

Had to cut brackets off it, move em in 3inches from the edge, shorten em and change the angle of em in order to get it to sit properly. Then weld em back onto the guard.

I did fone our resident welding and fabrication genius?? But he just said buy this Fook orf great welder off me and get some 10mm plate. Fooking Yoofs today??? :p

Beefed up my recent rear crossmember repair so I'll feel confident towing 3 tonnes and the one other bit of welding the chassis need for MoT

and the wee repair to the body support under the rear seats

may be that the gear isnt engaging right and just grinding on the flywheel edge.

okay, that sounds like an idea, would that be because of the solenoid or the motor its self?? Dont know anything about the starter motor if you hadnt guessed haha it hasnt gone until now ;)

new steering arm and ball joint (couldnt be arsed changing the ball joint by itself) new ball joint on the other end of the bar.
quite an enjoyable morning, things were stubborn enough to make it interesting, but not so much it got me narked off.
lastly, for the "insecure/split" boot on the rear steering arm, just needed a decent cable tie round it, the securing spring for the boot was sprained and not holding it in place. its amazing, its like its on rails (as far as a defender can :) )

Drove it to Knaresborough, then to Barnsley, then to Sheffield and then home to happy valley. Despite drinking £30 of diesel the 90 performed faultlessly. Pleased, considering the motorway is not really the natural habitat of the aged Land Rover.

Fitted a new trimmed down viscous fan. Would have put this in my conversion thread but can't find it.
:/

When you do the conversion usually have to fit a thermostatic fan but i grew tired of the fact the cooling didn't kick in til the engine was getting too warm.

Makes sense to keep it cool in the first place i thought. Soooooooo i put the fan on my lathe and marked out the blades equally. Removed exactly 40mm from them although 30 probably would have done. So now doesn't snag and still blows like a good un
