Nah, but he kinda swore a bit when he saw the state of the roof trusses above the garage. They're well fecked with old wood worm and dampness/ rot, shame really as they're nice big oak ones.

After spending 3 weeks getting mine looking good (new body cappings, lots of bits and a hand paint job) I went to Newark with my son and had 2 sessions on the off road course. (5 rounds) It was our first off road venture since buying the 90 300tdi in April. I was amazed at what she could do but we pushed her too hard. We got 3 clear rounds but I broke a rear damper, dislocated the spring slightly and this morning I have a flat front tyre (did check tyres for damage) so lesson learned. Don't try and compete in a 'standard' spec Defender. Quite a few vehicles Defenders got damaged bumpers as one of the 'bomb holes' was too steep... Freelanders suffered worse with whole rear ends ripped off.
So bottom line for what I did to my Land Rover... I mistreated her, I am sorry, I love her and will learn from my mistakes.

Been busy driving to and fro from Scotland.

Completed my first ever oil change! :D
I bought an all singing, all dancing oil filter tool from Halfords (£12 no less!) and it made removing the thing childsplay :)

New filter in, then it wasw glug glug with the fresh oil, a 5 minute warm-up for leaks and filter filling before topping it off again.

To think a garage would probably charge you £90++ for an oil change!
For oil and filter it cost me £55 :D

Discovered on the way back from Scotland that the passenger and drivers side have leaks! :(

I will be looking into that.

;)

This do ye....

when i did mine - i just used a long bar with one hole int end to bolt to flange - used a second bolt thru flange to lock it in place - bit simpler and did the job .

its pretty elaborate BB :D I was thinking along the same lines of daft.

I bet you could sell it on ebay for good money when your done though ;)
