Just starting a thread about what folk have done on there defenders.

For me today was all about painting and remounting the towing assembly:

Ok, today was a near washout with the sporadic rain but I soldiered on regardless.

Bought some copperslip stuff (£3) and started on the final set of painting, back bumper and tow array given it's last coat along with towing assembly.
rubbed down the front bumper then slapped on the first coat there.
I can't help but wonder that to call it a bumper is an understatement, a battering ram would be more appropriate.
It knocks these modern-style cars for six when you look at the softy-wofty plastic things.
Anyway ten minutes later it ****ed it down! :(

I hoped that the hammerite would dry in time but it wasn't to be.
I checked on it a couple of hours later and there were water spots set into the top of the front 'ram'.

I'd have to rub it down tomorrow and re-coat it.

I re-mounted the towing assembly onto the back bumpers A Frame along with the securing bolt, towing bolts. Prior to this I made sure plenty of copperslip was on them. This was a bit of a shtty job and I made sure I wore rubber gloves. The split pins were a bit arsey to insert as well but I was being a bit girly not wanting to smear copper slip all over the handle parts.

Overall it doesn't look too bad:

I refitted my GPS antenna, moving it from the dash to on top of the roof. Finaly it works like a dream. The windscreen is too upright for the GPS satelite signals to get through.
My stainless diff guards have just come so that's the next job.

This is interesting, what GPS are you using, mine has no trouble at all and is mounted on the windscreen. It's a Tom Tom model.

drove mine need to change oil and check g box levels.and cheapy binatone sat nav works fine on windscreen even with series external sun visor giving it less sky to look at

Just looked at mine & told it I love her:rolleyes: Then I began dreaming about if my wallet was a bit bigger:cool:
New wheels & rubber,new winch,sprayjob, new ragtop.............then I got depressed & went indoors:doh:

Hitched up the big trailer and fetched 2 tonnes of Pheasant grower pellets.

Good stuff on the tree battle man. I always figured landy's wouldn't be heavy enough for tree roots/stumps...

I went to halfords and sorted out an inverter and DC sockets for the lannie.

I then attempted an oil change and failed when it came to removing the blasted oil filter!
I had no chain strop to unscrew it but had a go with raw muscle and nylon straps.
It failed miserably and tomorrows job prior to driving to Jockland is to buy one and finish the job.

Well I finally bought a little 'un yesterday, pics etc to come soon.

87 miles into ownership and I lost the passenger side window wiper... So the first thing was to bodge a quick repair so the missus could see where we were going! I also fed it, showed it to anyone who would look and shook my head at a Rav4 driving through a puddle at 5mph.

key'ed and primed the fuel tank guard ready to be sprayed tomorrow eve. Then I can go about installing the tank in the week/next weekend :)

200tdi Defender… once a 2.5td…

Couldn't resist it... did all 3 recommended injector pump mods to get more power... cleaned out intercooler and test drove. Big difference. 90 degree turn on all components. Next job is to try to source a bigger intercooler and fit without buying one for £400!!!!
