So I put some LED bulbs in my front indicators a while ago (300tdi, 1994, D90).
I had noticed that when I attached the trailer the trailer lamp indicator only flashed once.
Not too fussed so carried on.

I decided to fit more LED's into the indicators and put two on the back. In 'hazard' mode all was fine but in Lefyt or Right they flashed @ 100mph.

So I got a special LED relay which cured that problem... all is fine, the trailer lamp flashed again.

So I decided to order andf change the T5 side repeater bulbs for LED's completing the whole picture.
Well ...
On 'hazards' they were great, but on Left or Right all six indicators flash ...
Took out the LED's in the repeaters and put back std T5's back in and it's fine ... as weird as.

All the earths are fine, it's that silly 109 pin hazard, impossible to figure out, switch.

This is exactly what I've been dealing with recently on the front axle of my 1988 110... totally blocked breather seems to have forced the oil from the axle out the ends and then through into the bearings on both sides. There was no visible grease left, just oil everywhere.

In other news, slightly off topic I have done absolutely nothing this weekend as I successfully made it to Arran and back! 85ish mile round trip and no problems. Although I still have things to work on now im back.

Ok so back story, I knew there was pressure building up in the front axle from when I changed the diff oil but kinda ignored it... Some time later I was changing the wheels over and noticed some play in one of the wheels. Suspecting a bearing I ordered a pair of new ones, then a weekend or so later jacked it up on that side and popped the drive flange off (hadn't been off for a good few years going by the paint).

This is what I was greeted by, oil pouring out:


So at that point I knew there was an issue with that much oil and the fact I couldn't see any grease left between the rollers. So off with the hub and new bearing time, this was what it looked like off.



So I imagine whats happened is the breather blocked up, pressure builds up in the axle and with all the layers of paint and stuff over the outside of the drive flange, its going to make its way out of one of the seals, the cap on the front of the seal on the back of the hub. For me it didn't look like any oil was leaking out past the rear seal, its just pooled in the hub with the bearings.

There is a seal to stop the oil coming into the hub.
Removing it allows the diff oil to lubricate the bearings, (wet bearings) which is not a bad thing.
Next time I take my rear stub axles off I think I will remove the seals so that the bearings are lubricated with the EP90

This seal may have already been removed (on your axle) or has just worn out ??

Im not sure on the seal in the axle. I know the rear axle doesn't have any seals as its a Salisbury, the front might still have them, but as with most rubber things after 37 years, they might not be the best!

I get that gear oil is far from the worst thing to have lubricating bearings, but considering they were designed to be packed with grease, that's how I would like it to be.
