I'm surprised that so few people own the Freelander 1, V6 although I saw a youtube video review recently and it mentioned that the V6 was auto "as standard". Is this the case? If so - perhaps this could account for why so few people own them.

Personally though - I love autos ;-)

Andy.

Very low percentage of Freelanders are v6. running costs are higher and there's the rover engine connection that means they int too reliable, when compared to the diesels.

Hipster,

Which one has the most head blowing, VCU failing, door falling off issues, or is it all of the FL1 range?

(I int takin the push neever, 'sa serious queschun)

Head blowing would be the 1.8's.

VCU failing would be the pre 2001 Freelanders. The 2001 model year (started late 2000) had the newer closer ratio's in the ird. Hence less stress on the transmission/VCU. Pre 2001 are the 1.8's and L series diesel. As Freelanders age the 2001 onwards model suffer VCU failure too.

Doors falling orf int a problem Freelander owners suffer wiv. Never before has a Freelander owner had this problem. The tratterers is making it up. What really happened was a Freelander owner washed his Freelander. Opened the doors to wash round the door seals. He forgot he'd left one door open, un reversed his Freelander. Only to find he'd knocked the door on a bollard.

All Freelanders have problems. Bit like any other car. As they age they tend to have more problems.
