Finally finished off my fan. Included a pic in case it's of use to anyone. I fitted an X-Fan sensor to the bottom hose (the blue bit of pipe). This worked out really well as it allowed me to get the hose position perfect and get rid of the pinch that used to there.

The fan is a 16" one attached to a little piece of metal bracket that I had lying around. The bracket is held to the top of the rad frame using the existing shroud bolts, and the fan is bolted to the angle at the top and held in place at the bottom with a coupe of cable ties through the frame (not the core).

Apart from the earth for the fan, the all the wiring runs back to my aux fuse box on the rear bulkhead. The fan is wired via a relay to the X-Fan sensor with a manual override switch so that I can force operation if required. The fan should cut in automatically but so far I've not been able to test this.
