Tdi all day, every day, for both of us here - for the reason stated by @wattfield , above.

We have had our fill of electronic sh*t which breaks without any reason, and then either needs main stealer intervention, at main stealer crazy £, or simply can not be fixed this side of the cost of a new car, let alone anywhere near the value of the "vehicle".

Our plan is to never run anything else, ever again.

Despite all my woes with the TD5, I still like it
Both have their idiosyncrasies and common faults.
I think the TD5 sounds nice!

TD5 all day long. More powerful, smoother, quieter. Tuneable and reliable if maintained properly. Relatively simple electronics compared to other modern diesels. Once drove a 300 Tdi Disco and thought I was towing a house it was so sluggish - even with a tweaked pump. I've owned five TD5 engines in various forms over the years. My latest 90 CSW was mapped by Gary at Alive and pulls like a train and drives like a car.
