Hi all, decided a while ago to have a go at making my own winch bumper as I couldn't find one I liked and I'm a welder fabricator by trade so thought it would be cheaper as well. So got the 4mm steel plate from work for a bout £35, and now I've finished thought I'd put some pics up for everyone to have a look at it.

The large holes are for fog lights cheers Ian
 
Looks nice.

Is it getting powder coated?

Maybe a few drain holes in the winch tray base to help get the water and mud out. Also , ( I do not have a winch bumper, so please take this as an honest question) is 4mm plate without any support in the winch tray going to be strong enough?

Just thought, is it a straight bolt on on a p38 or will you need to do more work on it for me
 
I think it needs some sort of stiffener at the top/back of the front vertical winch plate down each side to join the main bumper as it looks like a potential weak spot to me?
 
Cheers all, no I am spraying it with black 2 pack, ye good point neilly drain holes would be a good call will add a few. lynall do you mean looking at the 2nd picture at the back -top to bottom in the winch tray over were the cut out is ?

No I mean the large vertical plate with the slotfor the fairlead, thinking about it if you put a bend in the top bit along the width of the plate it would have nearly the same effect as a gusset plate?
 
Looks really good! I particularly like the pile of stuff in the top left hand corner on the first pic. I have one just like it! :)
 
Cheers mojo247 ahhh you mean the wood pile, the father-in-law is an ex farmer he's been building that pile up for many years but we aren't allowed to burn that. We have to cut the other wood up to burn that he gets, he's a bit of a hoarder hahaha. Will put some more pics up when its sprayed and fitted.

I do like the look of it, As I said in my first post , i do not have a winch so am only looking from my POV.

But, I would still question the 4mm plate on the winch base without any structure might be prone to distortion. Would not a right angle stiffener be a good idea on the rear of the winch tray?

Also, have you copied the attachment points / layout off of another?

Would it still give enough room for a Hi Lift to be used in the chassis dumbbells?
