cos the law sez so!
any other reason? or reason for the law
coz if you hit a pedestrian or you're in a collision were someone comes into contact with the wire while at speed it will quite likely cut them in half.

Same as they can put prohibition order on a vehicle for any sharp edge that a pedestrian could come in contact with.

they aren't sharp

If you need bush wires for laning then your going to fast. Simples.
I have a full set of bush wires that came with my roof rack. Never use them.
