Hmm. Rear wiper has decided to put itself in the straight down position and now won't budge
It's a worm gear so you can't move it by hand. It has current sensing so it turns off if it draws too much. If you're quick you can turn the ignition off and on then leg it to the back and help it along before the motor stops again.

Then after the third attempt replace it :)
It makes no sense. Just went out to the car to try what you said.. rear wiper did a normal wipe cycle and parked itself. Without intervention.
Then the front wipers did a single wipe and parked. The stalk was in the off position, not auto/intermittent

The rear wiper will just be finishing off it's sweep. There's a sensor and a magnet so it knows it's not parked. The motor armature sits in a bush rather than a bearing and can get a bit rusty and start to sieze and draw too much current. Mine did exactly the same thing before it eventually gave up.

I'd driven around with it in the down position and it had no intention of trying to move.. then i turn the ignition on and it does the usual 3 wipes as though i'd sprayed the screen wash, but I'd not touched the stalk :D
