Drove him 25 mile round trip to fill the bird feeders and shift the bins at the BILs, have a takeaway and fuel him (with triple loyalty points) ready for the lakes. Fraction over 18mpg on 170 miles of mostly shortish and busy traffic runs. See how he does on a decent length motorway cruise soon.

This happened yesterday....got the heated seat back together and bugger me drunk those pig rings on the lower part of the seat are real ball bitters to put on....but i got it done and as i suspected it works great :D probably only use it the first time i drive the RR. The weather over this side isn't that great, so i will leave the RR in the garage and fix the leaking sunroof! :(

Drove to and from work - 50 mile round trip. I’ve notice driving a P38 is like flying a 60s Cessna, you don’t take you eyes off the temperatures and pressures :D
No issues today and cumulative mpg is now 19.7

It could be 99mpg on the drive.... :p

Started removing channel trims so i can take the hood lining out to be recovered....not looking forward to this job. o_O

Drove her all the way to town, a good 6 or 7 miles - and nothing went wrong!
Then, you won’t believe this, drove her back again!
As a reward for good behaviour I took her to a local LR specialist. Up a green lane, down a farm track, through a farmyard behind a barn - 20 LR’s all over the place. Feels like a good place. Hopefully I’ll get her back tomorrow with fixed CV boot, some new bushes and possibly the Traction Control and ABS working ready to head to Wales for a weekend of green laning! Whoohoo!

Front pads worn out, just a week after the rears,
So changed them tonight for the whole 15mins it took,
All pads and callipars was replaced at the same time june 2021 so at approx 170k and lasted till now just over 205k thought that was reasonable for the usesge and towing the motor does

35k per year? Good effort!

I collected a tow hitch for mine yesterday, the heavy duty one, still in the bag and unused. Made a cheeky offer of £50 for it as I found I could buy a new (not OE) on for £100 delivered and it wasn't local. The guy accepted the offer so I snapped it up. Thinking back on his front garden and van full of miscellaneous metal, wheels, tools and bicycles I wonder how legitimate the origin of my bargain was. Not sure he was too mechanically minded as he offered me some brake cleaner to help lubricate the receiver!

Started my holiday by sorting the front side light (seems to have been some looseness / corrosion between the white bulb holder and the black wiring plug section).
Finally got round to fitting the running boards that have been cluttering the garage for far too long - happy wife now, she has always wanted a car with running boards. Much easier to do with the assistance of a jack and a rubber mallet.
Checked and topped up the tyre pressures. Coolant and engine oil are good. ATF a bit low, just a trace on the end of the dipstick. Presume it will take 1-2 litres to bring it from end of the stick to the max mark? (4.0 v8 with ZF 4HP22 autobox). Fluid is clean and clear though which is positive.

ATF should be changed every 25K miles regardless of colour. In case you do not know, the level is checked with the engine cold and idling after running the gear lever through all positions.
