Finally fixed the leaking fuel cap on Buttercup, the rubber washer/sealing ring on the cap was letting diesel pass so kept getting fuel on the wing. After a lot of faffing about bought a sheet of 3mm nitrile rubber and cut a replacement. Seems to work so far....................then checking this morning noticed the mud flap on the rear had gone to the place in the sky where they go to when having a hissy fit.
As luck would have it I have spares due to being a thick **** and overordering a couple of years ago.

Never easy with P38s is it?
I have 3 door looms.
All made within 3 months of oldest to newest (07/99, 08/99, 09/99). All 3 have enough differences that it isn't a simple case of plug and play.
First loom had 3 plugs at the a post, same everywhere else. Second has 2 plugs at the a post, different almost everywhere else... but one location. The door lock. Think I'll splice the 2 known good looms together and hope I get one working door.

This week the P38 has done the commute with no problems. I am very pleased
I put all the proper clips in place. Just in case I can sort it. But I may have to sell it for scrap so I can get sometime to commute to work in. Back at work on Monday and no way of getting there.If you ever get it working, make sure the wires are secured well away from the window regulator.

Well after it playing up yesterday and this morning I had to change the battery in the second"jog" remote, quite happy as I checked when I did the work around and it was eight years ago. Not bad eh @brianp38dse

I am still on the original batterys now you mention it, mind you it is not getting the use it used to do when it was the everyday driver

Today i striped n cleaned the front brakes and one piston on near side ,was almost solid ,better now iv moved it in n out a dozen times ,anyway the point,,I was getting a squeak at low speed ,when passing parked cars ,on passenger side and a bit of a drag ,pull to that side ,,and that bloody rear axle breather tube was down again ,no mater where i shove it it never stays ...think i will drill a hole in the floor...

The exhausts arrived today. I have to wait a bit before fitting but hopefully by the end of the week I can post that they are installed

if you've only moved the piston, it will seize up again in next to no time.. it needs to come out for a full clean of the piston and its cylinder
a light smear with red rubber grease helps to keep things free

Yep i greased the piston at full length
, and each time i pressed it back it got lighter n lighter till it was sliding back in with one finger ,,,,,,On the tool .now just the back to do ,,,I start with brake fluid but its not a very good lube ,add grease ,till theres a sloppy mess under my rubber bits...
