Done a quick investigashun with my old Bosch filter I had fitted last oil change..
The syrup has been draining from its pleats for a good 2 weeks, the paper bosch use is really rather strong and still very stiff even after 5000 hard miles...
My best blunt stanley knife was tested to the max here.
What I'm looking for is metallic fragments and sludge/crap.
The pleats are put in the vice and squished to remove excess oil
BTW 10w60 with lucas is akin to maple syrup, no wonder it had a cam follower rattle when cold, my poor old oil pump
Upon closer inspection there is nothing untoward contained within the filter...

It's become a habit after the M62 I did had an oil pressure issue and lunched its main bearings, the filter was full of chunks

Like the idea of humping but the rest can wait until it warms up.
