Transit would not start, batteries flat, so had to use the P38 to go to the post. Started instantly despite it being minus 8C:)

Nope Grrrrrr came out today with his nano com. After consulting Gurus mozz and I think rickthepick it turns out it thinks it's a French Gem manual engine.

I've heard of this before - on here.
I think that, when a BECM goes into it's alarmed state, it's language goes to French and the date changes, or something similar.
I think you'll find that you need the VERY expensive diagnostics for this so it looks like you'll be adding to Rick's holiday fund.
At least you'll get a guaranteed solution.

Yep it's heading off to Rick for him to work its magic.

The holiday fund is getting a boost ;p

Had an emergency call out today, a reason (or excuse!) to drive it hard and fast. Wow! I was surprised just how good it is! Traction control clicked a couple of times (first time I've heard that on wet road rather than mud or snow) but boy can it hang on to the corners. For a 2.5 DT, when you really hoof it the acceleration is pretty good.
And is it possible that it did it some good? On the way back home, at a more leisurely pace, it felt really smooth, gearchanges seemed more decisive. Maybe just really warmed up. Anyway - it was good ;) (and I got the emergency dealt with too!)

P38 - Replaced the Steering damper had a look at where some oil was leaking from left side rocker cover gasket it seems. i'll be doing that in the summer no doubt.

Classic - Replaced the steering damper and thought while i'm on my back i may as well grease my shaft, so i did.
