Fitted the Heater matrix temp sensor this afternoon, a little bit of a fiddle but all done in 20mins.
I'll find out Tomorrow if it's sorted out the Intermittent book symbol, wasn't going out specially just to find out, I'm not that rich.

Oh! Thanks for the pointers Eric, much appreciated. ;)

@rollo
Well done, hopefully this will cure the book symbol as it did on mine.
It will be worth checking on diagnostics as I found the original fault code still stored in memory even though the book
symbol had gone. I then cleared the fault. That was then job done.

6th journey since scraping through the mot.
I keep telling myself that this is my last year with "Rudolph" ( the big red range rover ), and I will have to find a replacement vehicle or body.
Rudolph is not in a good state of repair.
Wipers only work on slow. Heater fan only works on fast.
Central locking has a mind of its own. Electric windows failing one by one.
Electric mirrors never worked, and have had to wire in switches to get the seat to move.
Bonnet outer skin has parted from inner skin ( happened day before yesterday) and the whole lot is held down by a ratchet strap between the towing shackles and a hook at the back edge of the bonnet ( quite fetching, I thought). And the brake servo motor overheats when in traffic.

But through the failure of all these optional extras, the engine and powertrain (4.6 auto) has been faultless. Until today. The front prop shaft has started to vibrate at speed.
Feels like front axle diff pinion bearing or transfer box output bearing or UJ worn. Goes away under load.
Deep joy.

Anyone know of a good classic body, or a p38 with a blown engine?!?!

Fitted my new air dryer, after cleaning the pipes out, and the overhauled valve block. Changed the compressor seal and cylinder while I had it all stripped out of the car. I then stripped down the old air dryer, how easy to overhaul. Is there any interest out there for a overhaul kit for said air dryer? I am hoping for a meeting on Monday re. supply of necessary items at reasonable cost to members. Regards

Just got the passenger side tailgate latch working so now the lower tailgate shuts properly both sides. Hadn't noticed the problem until today but hopefully this is where the water in the boot is coming from.

Finally got around to putting new serpentine belt and pulleys on. Ridiculously easy once I'd found the enthusiasm. 30 Mins, job done and tea slurped. :)

Hi Eric,
Haven't had chance to go out until tonight. The Book symbol hasn't reared it's ugly head :) & it was loverly and warm for a change, unlike getting upto Temp then just cutting back to a lukewarm trickle & the Book symbol showing.
I'll stick the Nanocom on Tomorrow & see if that throws any Faults up, but from what I can remember it only registered a fault when the Book symbol was showing, who knows, let's see what Tomorrow brings.
Yet again, many thanks for your help. ;)

Rollo
My diagnostics just showed the historical fault that was there initially. The heating system worked fine but clearing the fault finishes off the repair.

Drove home and parked her up. I've been away for a bit and she didn't make a murmur in complaint. Just glad I parked her up inside, considering the tales of the recent weather!

Two new front tyres today.. need to give her a good clean on the
Inside and get a new wheel nut.. so besides the tyres... a rather cheap
Week for the p38... mind you we are only on Tue.. plenty time yet!

Well EAS comp in bits again on the bench, new one on order, but last week went straight through its IMTT (an MOT for all you bods in englandshire)

Today I've been repairing and tarting up my exhaust.

I don't mind if the repairs don't last a long time, only enough for an MOT and then enough time for me to get a full stainless system.

Sorted! Just got to put it back on...
