Found the reason for the squeaking noise.
1, it appears the hydraulic tensioner is leaking so that needs replacing.
2, It also appears that when the belt came off it has sheered off a bolt. I'm not sure on the name of the part but starting from the front of the engine you have the fan, that is connected by a rod to a pulley that is driven by the aux belt. Well it is that pulley that is missing a bolt head. You can see the black rubber marks where the belt hit it and the clean surface of the broken bolt which suggests it was a recent thing.

So fark!

replaced coolant temp sensor and inlet manifold gasket got an annoying wheeze under power now will have to investigate that tomorrow:confused:

Some big trips coming soon so... Put two front Arnotts on and replaced all the brake disks and pads. Then replaced the pollen filters and all the interior bulbs with LEDs (what a difference, wish I had done this earlier)
Helps to have a mobile full lift wheels free ramp..

I'm dammed if I'd get under a P38 balanced on that:eek: No good for gearbox swaps either.

If you look at the base it is quite wide (much wider than the car) and stable. And yes I have changed the transfer box, diffs air springs etc etc no problem. Used it to work on my old Silver Shadow - back axle out, etc.

Stopover, what interior LEDs did you use?

I got these from ebay. I did a search on 'Vehicle Parts & Accessories' then 'Car Parts' and just put in LED, massive selection. The 8 SMD Can Bus was the best to the dome light (Centre interior light) but is 42mm so had to bend the contacts a little) the two rear festoons were replaced with the 16 led LEON perfect as they are 38mm which is the best size for replacing the festoons. I went for Brilliant White and the result is spectacular but you can have other colours. The puddle lights are the AUTO-LIGHTS ones. I have removed the load space bulb as I haven't found a good replacement yet, its useless as a light anyway. Still to do the foot lights. But very much like the LEDs better light, longer lasting (claimed 50,000 hours!) and half the voltage.

I haven't used the other festoons (custom Festoon) yet as they were slow to arrive but have them in reserve.

Hi Stopover,

I have a similar set up for my interior lights & must say the lighting is a huge improvement. However, PO fitted LED sidelights that throw a fault everytime i turn the lights on, i've seen canbus lights on ebay, are canbus able to eliminate the fault or should i just fit standards?

Yes, you need CanBus type LEDs to stop the fault messages. The interior ones inc puddle bulbs are not on the canbus as far as I know, I have no error messages but the exterior bulbs are.

I use a 36 LED for my dome light, I chose it because it came with a spring loaded festoon so could be compressed to fit any size fitments. Upto 60mm and down to about 20mm. Although it was wired backwards from factory (Chinese QA for you), so that needed amending. But otherwise it is top kit.

Although it dose generate some heat after 10mins of illumination, which is mildly concerning.

Swear at it again. The hydraulic tensioner has finally given up on me. Was about 5 miles from home when the PAS became heavier and the belt squeech increased quite a lot. Bloody part hasn't arrived yet either. >.<
