It was, I married it to a 4 speed overdrive freewheei gearbox from a Westminster 6/110 used to get over 50 mpg.That's an unusual conversion
Better than the 9 mpg on petrol.

We put a 3.0 litre Capri engine in a Ford Anglia. In retrospect, it might have been a good idea to upgrade the brakes and suspension as well.

Less than one. Tony Fagin plowed it into the railings at the bottom of my road after less than a week. See my above post about brakes.

Thanks for that, I had forgotten the guys name, I saw the car several times around Pulborough when I lived in the area over 20 years ago.
Meteor was a jet, I don't know but it was always said to be from a Spitfire
