Cleaned her for the first time in a year. Things I learnt.

1, So many stone chips, dents, scratches, and rust/oxidation. Including a stone chip on the middle if the roof.
2, I forgot the wheels were silver.
3, She actively resists being cleaned. Spent 2 and a half hours on it... might as well've driven through a puddle.

I also forgot pix. Will retrieve some.

The old stuff only had 500mi on it but unlike last time it was relatively clean, it was 15w40 Mobil 1000 with a Wynns additive added. :D

Well that's all the bulbs changed inside and out.
D2s Headlight bulbs haven't arrived yet.
Any excuse to keep idle hands busy.
Totally forgot about the high level brake light though :( just ordered one.
And photos yes I take heaps always a story with them.

Took wife to Morrisons to do shopping. Had an hours kip in the old girl whilst she queued and shopped. Nice to be out and have a drive around.

Arnott gen 3 fitted to replace the gen 2 on the near side. Now matching at rear. Ride is definitely better but those effin Arnott connections are an utter PITA to get out. 20 minute job took over an hour. I'd hate to do it in the wilds. Totally unnecessary.

Also, wired up a spot light in the middle off the reversing lights. Nice and bright out the back now! :)

Finally, hoovered out the boot. I know it is a working car but the amount of sawdust and crap was scary.

Gen 3s! You got that win? ;)

In the wilds you just do like I did and hack them out
Chop chop was the expression iirc

With no spare pipe? With a small spanner you can just unscrew the connector and then prise the brass collet off the airline and get it all out. Fiddly as f+ck.

Arnott gave me gen 3 as 2 gen 2 bags failed within 12 hours. The gen 3 seem fine so far. Been a week since I fitted the first one so thought I would try the second one.

You had a Gen 3 on one side and a Gen 2 on the other side? Lucky you did not have an accident for sure your insurance would have been invalidated.

Only for a week and the car isn't going anywhere. I did take it up the road and back to give them some movement but there's nothing much around here once the cyclists have cleared off.

The spring rates shouldn't be that different but it felt as though they were. I know the road here is bad but it felt really bouncy and unstable with a mix whereas 2 gen 3 felt really smooth.

Incidentally, I also had 1 Dunlop and 1 gen 2 for a while and didn't notice any difference so they appear to be comparable.

The Gen 3, according to Arnott, has a different displacer giving very different spring rate characteristics to the Gen 2.

Nice - Thats an exact replica of mine! Shrivenham? Did your wife get you the fetchingly masculine pink pens too? :p
Nah, I am too broken and dumb to go Cranfield. She did, she wanted to embarrass me, but I don't think I have embarrassment left in me after spending the first half of my career with The Micks, some pink pens won't embarrass me. The magical unicorn notebook has gone down really well with this REME Tech ****ers though :p

Airsprings have less pressure at lower height, whereas coils increase pressure as compressed
Gen 3 is supposed to take this into account, unlike other airsprings, is why they are not compatible and much more expensive
