Changed oil in diffs, God that stuff stinks, going to hook up the tin tent later then drive the 250 miles down to Cornwall for some hopefully nice weather for 2 weeks.
We've had lovely weather today but some 'ellish downpours this week, hope that difflock works well if yer goin' across grass this week.. Have a booty ' ansome time ..

Not a bad job. Rust and **** raining in my eyes and hair as I struggled underneth, but pretty quick compared to most jobs I attempt on my car! I had to cut it off with an angle grinder as most of the fixings and bolts looked like this...

B&Q or Toolstation have clear wraparound safety-specs for about a £1. Get a few pairs and leave then around the garage shed and save your eyes. Enough grit will damage the outer layer and cause permanent fogging of your vision. Common in people who wear the gauze visor on their chainsaw helmet but no glasses.

sorted my rear brake backplates, not to bad 3 hours from cutting/modding the back plate to both being fitted and my hand brake working. who said working on an l322 was hard lol
 
Cleaned out the mesh oil breather filter in the camcover, messy job but hopefully worth it.

Fitted the rubber rubbing/bump mouldings to "buttercup", used plenty of a good quality alternative to 3m's double sided tape.
Nice sunny day so everything was nice and flexible, worked out much easier than I dared hope for.
Seems to stick very well, time will tell. It has made a huge difference visually, breakes up the vast yellow panels. Happy bunny. :):)

Lovely job. It'll smoke less for certain. Getting that half-moon shape of the gasket back in is a pain, isn't it?!
 
Over the last 4 weeks or so I have been doing all those jobs I've been putting off. Such as:
  • Had the wheels refurbished and 2 new tyres.

  • Replaced valley gasket, rocker cover gaskets, and a few other bits to fix oil leak.

  • Replaced scuttle foam. Have had to order new screws because they were all rusted away.

  • Rear washer not working. Traced to faulty pump and blocked non-return valve. On order with the screws.
  • Bit of servicing. Changed oil & filter, plugs, pollen filters, serpentine belt and 1 idler pulley.
  • Cleaned MAF with MAF cleaner to see if that clears some error codes in the Bosch Motronic memory. Obviously I'll clear the codes and see if they come back.
  • Cleaned and conditioned the leather seats.
  • Replaced blown bulb in message centre. Changed all 3 while I was at it.
  • Fixed HEVAC display with help from MartyUK. He sells an excellent new connector that fixes the corrupt display issue.
Still to do: Replace headlining. I knew it was getting saggy, but I think the hot weather has pushed it over the edge and now rear passengers get in and the lining is touching their heads. Kit ordered from www.martrim.co.uk so will be doing that this week when it arrives.

Took her for a little jaunt out. Managed to get her into sport mode a couple of times, to pass dimwits who mistake this / on a white circle for 40mph, just because road has a few slight curves, with lots of long straights!
Although overtaking these days is a dangerous sport, you have to pass about 3 at a time ,as they're all up each others bums.Do they no longer teach them to leave a gap between themselves and the car in front?
All that aside, I had a lovely drive, in my lovely Golden Girl.

Don't start me on the barstewards who think 30 mph means 25 or 40 means 34 mph, we should have nerf bars to help them on their way. AND cyclist:mad: I remember a now deceased mate in Aden tying a brush to the trafficator on a three tonner. Every time he overtook a biker when driving down the Gut he indicated and knocked the bugger off. Google trafficator if you don't know what I mean. He was mad Marine.:D

Did i miss a comma after 25? 30 means the maximum speed on that particular stretch of road, I'm not advocating exceeding the speed limit but if the driver is incapable of maintaining the speed limit then ???? When I sat my tests you could have been failed for not making suitable progress i.e.. driving to the set speed limits. Have things changed? So pray, tell me what you think it means.
 
correct = the "30" symbol is the maximum speed. A lower speed may be correct for the driving conditions.

you aint one of those peeps i see on the motorway in thick fog, taking the "it says I can do 70, so I will, even tho i cant see 20 feet in front of me" are you :(.

there are no hard and fast rules - it depends on the circumstances and your capabilities.
