It was your cock up putting new metric nuts on old imperial bolts:rolleyes:

:)

And how do you spot metric thread when it is inside the nut? No mention on the packaging, just a part number. More importantly, why should you have to check when it is marked as OEM?!

Because they don't fit properly, they are either loose on the bolt or go tight after a few turns:)
Maybe LR switched to metric on later cars.

When I got the P38, I checked over the brakes and the numpty had put metric m8 threaded bolts on the UNF caliper slide pins and L/R include Silicon grease now, not copper grease. it pays to check the free running of the threads, even with locktight you should not need to over tighten them. Most Quality Metric bolts have M on the top and nuts have marks on the nut's faces. just Google Bolt and Nut markings.

Well I had a heated discussion with a wooden top (Police Officer of minor rank). Have they developed a, let's muck up everyone's day with placing no diversion signs up and instead drawing you into a right muck up. WHAT A KNOB (sorry, other good Police Officers are available, although in short supply). I went to Swaffham to tow a neighbour home, I could not believe, almost home and got to Parson's Drove and found this idiot had not placed the signs up and there we were stuck with need to do a u turn. Worse still she had bent the tow pole. I need to find a centre loop or make up a pole to attach to the ball joint. Oh shame they stopped you using A frames, much better.

Needed to get my trailer out so moved tiny to the street locked up and headed off in the golf came home put trailer away. Went to put tiny away key wouldn't unlock off the remote so key in lock to get in but engine won't start ahh grab spare key same thing. Light flashes on both remotes so batt should be ok I hopped, a bit of Google fu finds eka might work so back out and happy days it did. Now only one key works remotely the spare the main key won't. I can't be 100% sure if spare worked remote before but I know the other did any ideas what happened and why only one key will remote work now? Oh it was the spare I used for eka just cause it was first one I had to hand.
I wonder if both keys are the same code and I have resyinced the spare so over riding main key?

If both keys are the same code, as you speculate, only one will work.

Pinned the roof-lining up. Too worried the little one will climb over something and push one through the roof so it'll have to be done properly though. Bugger. :(

Correct. There's a rolling code that increments each time you use the key. So if you have 2 key "1"s and 1 is incremented and 1 isn't then you have to synch the one that isn't next time you try to use it. Great as a backup key though.

Quality and ****part. Don't hear those terms used togethre very often. :)

Not to day but over the weekend I single handedly changed my flex plate laid on my back in the workshop. It wasn't actually that bad to be honest. What took the time was me checking and rechecking RAVE (even tho it lies) and also bothering Stustrong on the phone (see his thread about the exploding flex plate) Stu really helped me out and is a prime example as to why this forum is the best on the web so thank you Stu.

Splitting the gear box was easy but lining it back up after the new flex plate was fitted was a lot harder to keep it square but eventually I managed it.

If your thinking about doing it yourself it can be done I saved about £500 not having my dealer do it so well worth the effort.

Id be happy to talk you through it if the time comes just drop me an email

Workshop? Luxury. I've only got a drive. Well, I call it a drive but it's more like 'ole in't road ...

Yeah. Manual was heavy and twisting so I can imagine what the auto was like. I had my shoulder under the transfer box and that was with someone to help push. Definitely easier with 2 people.

Of course, if you're Saint you probably just climb under the car with a copy of Razzle.
