Took Range Rover off sorn and started up fist hit after 4 months laid up.One problem was getting the tailgate to open as the dust from Mongolia had coagulated and clogged up the catch. Got a new battery so now I have 2 just got to wire it in and booked it in for a MOT next week.O it had a flat tyre as well. Will be fitting a new radiator next week and will be ready to take it to Iceland and the Faroes at the end of May.

I agree, Fort William to Mallaig, stunning drive, last time I did that run was in a BMW 325i, what a buzz.

Took her for a run to the skips site wont be taking her again I had to squeeze under the barrier to get in forgot how tall she is. Fitted a new bulb in the tail gate found one in my box of bits so nice and cheap fix.

Just been to see a V5 golf, then thought of the licence and said Nah.:)

I had a mk3 gti golf was low and stiff like a fag packet on its side wouldn't go under the bumper it'd do 130 handled like a go cart would go anywhere at that speed and grampian police will back me up ;)

This was only the 2.3, believe they also do a 2.7 and a 3.2:eek:

Got the new alternator at last. (Put on Parcelforce 24hrs on Thursday pm, eventually arrived Monday 4pm!). Put a charged up battery on to start it up and move it to the 'workshop' (shed :)). Tested at battery - 14.7 v. Looks like it was charging. Turned it off. (12.6 on the battery). Switched ignition on - no battery check light. Thought I should put new alternator on anyway. Balked at changing the drive belt(s), they both looked fine anyway. New alternator on, ignition on, battery check light on. Start engine, battery light off. :) Possibly diode fault or intermittent fault on old alternator? (see also part 1 of this saga in 'What fault ...' thread) Anyway I'll get it tested.
Oil and filters change etc this weekend (if it dries up enough to lie underneath it.)
Have a good weekend all!

Old alternator could just be worn brushes.
