Doing some research.. it seems the only cost viable route is to buy a top hat block and swap all the bits off mine myself.. problem is i don't have the space to do it.
Other options eg getting someone else to do it seem to be too expensive, especially as my motor isn't a pristine example to start with

I'm sure the fix will be easy, it's the finding that's hard. I have never ever had to tear out a loom. They usually only break where they flex, then you have possibility of a corroded earth point and it's worth looking at the connectors behind the kick panel at the foot of the A post for corrosion.
I had the kick panel out and the grounds are all nice. I did have a bit of corrosion with the black plug, but cleaning it up did nothing.
I assume when it broke on you the wire broke but the outer coat didn't?

Yes the wires tend to break on the inside of the sleeve.

Maybe a bit basic but.... do you have power into the door? follow that first, is it BECM controlled? I don't know.
But you have a spares car available dont you:eek::D:D.

I might need to borrow a DVM from work then. I really don't trust mine.

The door is BeCM controlled. Sorry about the photo of a screen. I assume the break would be between C1383R and the door outstation. My Halfords special DVM just doesn't seem to give consistent results, so putting a halt to progress somewhat.

I do not have a spares car available. And I love my wife and her car more than life itself.

As a quick fix to get mobile and give me time to think what to do, going to drill the thermostat so it doesn't get fully up to temp as that's when it leaks

Have you checked the viscous lately or do you run electric?

I know it’s a stupid question, but you have checked those 2 fuses?

But it would only be borrowing bits temporarily:p;).

Try calling William up in Lincoln, Kermit. He may have a complete lump.
His mobile: 07903 167575
Good luck...it's time your fortune changed.
Mike.
