...... and as I struggle to get mine working again, another one bites the dust. This was a couple hours ago.

This would be the brake booster bursting and spraying brake fluid all over the hot exhaust manifold. Very common on the v8s out here. If memory serves, I think this makes 6 or 7 cars that died this way that I know of, 2 of which were before my very eyes.

Yeesh.

Very common? Don't think I've ever heard of that before?

Dunno why, but it certainly happens here. Could be a climate thing with the rubber seals and hoses and stuff..... but it happens.

The owner of that car is a friend of a friend, I think. If I'm destined to fine out more, I'll share... but it certainly looks consistent with the other instances. Basically the car just spontaneously combusts, with no warning whatsoever. This happened at KUL- Kuala Lumpur International Airport.... right at the passenger drop off, so he obviously drove all the way there, got out of the car, was in the middle of loading/unloading the car (tailgate is open) and next thing he knows.... *kablooie*.

Are the eas driver pack and sunroof trims ok? ;):D

Okay, amazing. I'll give that a go after I get the wife from work. She'll be happy to have her car one step closer to being back on the road.

Passenger side for RHD:) well it is on mine if i remember right.;)

I always leave door open too (sometimes key in position 2, Belt and braces depending on what your doing) never had any issues so far when messing with flat batteries changing/charging/boosting from flat.

Just need to work out how to bypass the bonnet open switch so I can jump it off my P38 and see if everything works. Exciting times.

Stick something in the hole. Piece of wood or screwdriver, whatever fits and pushes the bit of metal out the way.

Managed to get the EKA for the wife's P38, not had a chance to test it yet as the battery is absolutely pancaked. I know it'll need replacing at this point, but it is a step in the right direction.

Had to try 2 different dealers though, originally rang Swindon and they really didn't give a ****, it wasn't new so it wasn't their problem. I just found myself on hold, waited 30 minutes and got bored of nothing.

So I tried Melksham instead (I am half way between both, so if I had to drive there it made no difference). Think it was 10 to 12 at this point so wasn't expecting them to put the world on hold for me. About 30 minutes later they called me back with the code.

Disconnecting the switch has the same effect.

I dont know about ice, and the £££ of this stuff now, but do you think this is the right price? Comes with maps and all the bits, and its UK base, so no import tax

It sounds about right. I almost had to change the head unit in the Golden Girl. Slight difference being a whole lot of extra cables were needed to keep original system, and all speakers. If I recall correctly head unit was around £250 , and cables another £250ish. So £330 for everything included sounds about right for a VW.
Others may think differently.

Addit: this is the one I looked at. Read to the bottom to see it needs lots of add - ons which ups price

Ok thanks for that, its a fit for a VW Golf, so for me its just a swap but a big upgrade, when the time comes I will ring them and try and get a discount, thanks for the advice

I'd say that's a bit pricey for a non branded head unit, looking at the pictures it only shows the frequency on FM and not the station name. Also what satnav app is installed, how easy is it to update, how often are the maps updated.
