Took off 1 airbag & shock absorber - Cleaned area - Painted - watched paint dry - Painted again - watched paint dry - fitted new airbag & shock absorber. EAS faultless

Hit the unlock, the lights hardly came on and the horn sounded constantly. Only way to stop it was pulling the battery. Looks like the battery is shagged, going to put it on charge for 2 days then take it to get tested. But the horn sounding makes me think BeCM is ####ed.
That might the battery backed-up sounder, which operates as an anti theft siren if the main battery is disconnected (or shagged).

Fully discharging a battery repeatedly is a garanteed way to kill it.The sounder stopped when I disconnected the battery, which means the sound was being powered by the battery. If it was the backup I'd have expected it to sound off even after I pulled the battery. Additionally, although a BMW fettled vehicle I noticed it still has the old style alarm, so no battery backup.
I think the battery has died and hot humid weather has taken the BeCM with it. Still got to try and charge the battery to test it, but means another phone call to Batterymega stores which means more ballache. ####ing stupid idea buying batteries online. Free tip. NEVER DO IT.

The BECM will always go mad with low battery volts, it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it.
My BMS alphaline has been on the car for 2 years now with no probs, maybe I'm just lucky.You make a good point. If BMS will replace the second battery, I won't fit it until I can get a Mk3 rF Receiver. Going to leave the battery off the vehicle anyway. I've bit the bullet and am now paying tax to use the company van as a personal wagon.

I the process of changing brake discs, pads and fluid.
At the same time rubbing down chassis etc. so the bits not supposed to be changed at some point has extended life.
Later on when whole car is painted there's wax to go into cavities etc.
When changing shocks recently noticed RAVE said to check tightness after 100 miles and with good reason - lower bolts needed tightened a fair bit.
