She was. I bought her for her body (thats not what I meant Officer! 
).
I was given a Series II which had a good chassis but totally shagged body and engine, so I bought the SIII to donate the body as it had the worst case of chassis rot I've ever seen. It turned out that the SII was a real bitsa and IMHO there was no way that it would get through an MoT without ending up with a Q plate, so I gave it back to my mate and kept the SIII to restore.
This was the SII -
Amazingly the SII has been rebuilt, had a 300Tdi fitted and passed several MoTs since - and retained the reg! Oh well, such is life... In case you were wondering about the colour... its Dulux Gloss White :doh:

Use a proper period colour - I love Limestone myself, really looks good on a Series and different to the usual green & blue.
This is the picture that inspired me to get a Series...
Still drool over this!
That's exactly what I want mine to look like when it's done, white limestone rims.
