Hello there, I'm really struggling to understand what the deal is with my licence. I passed my test in 1998 and as a result I have less categories than anyone who passed before 1997, but regardless of searching the crap out of the internet, I can't figue out what I am allowed to tow.

Can someone please help me? I realise it's a bit retarded, but thanks anyway!

best advice is to ring the dvla mate, only they can give you a confirmed answer.
get it in writing if theres any confusion so you have it there incase you get stopped by some jobsworth whilst your towing

you will have the b categry on ya liscence so ya can drive a car.Have a look on ya plastic bit to confirm-they even have nice little pics if ya cant reed.To tow any thing over a MAM of 750kg(ie anything useful) you will need a b+e liscence, which now involves a extra test. More wurds and proper detail can be found here The driving licence you need to tow a caravan or trailer : Directgov - Motoring

I have the same licence I can tow 1100KG's with my 90 because most 90's plated kerb weight is I think 1900KGs dispite what people say you can tow anything aslong as your max train weight does not exceed 3500KGs however any trailer capable of carrying a weight over 750KGs must have overun brakes. And the trailer must not exceed x percentage of the towing vehicle. However you can tow Bigger stuff with L plates if you inform your insurance company and have a licenced driver beside you.

Try this link - it explains the weight limits for drivers who don't have B+E entitlement - you can tow trailers over 750 kg under certain circumstances.

Your weight budget is 3500kg, say your landy is 2000kg, you will have 1500kg left for trailer (including what's in it)

this rule is fine for a landy, it gets more complex with a lighter vehicle as the trailer can't exceed the towing vehicles weight, but with a landy you shouldn't tow anymore than 1500kg. To be honest you would have to be unlucky to get stopped and weighed, especially if your in a purpose towing vehicle (landy) with a decent trailer and properly secured load!

i think it goes on max weight on the 90 vin plate which is 2400kgs so you have 1100kgs to play with if you have a 110 you is a bit screwed and technically can tow bugger all check this out tho cos im only 60% sure.
