i've learnt more from asking questions and searching on this site than any book could tell me,the haynes restoration manual is best used for bog paper imo.i have a copy but have not referrred to it at all.
btw,i hope you have a thick skin and a good sense of humour as the ****-taking can be relentless!
 
The Parts catalogue is useful for finding out part numbers and for the excellent exploded diagrams; Very useful when you pull something to bits and then wander what order it all goes back together.
 
If you are new to tinkering with cars in general then I'd also recommend 'Fundamentals of motor vehicle technology' by V.A.W. Hillier. You obviously don't need the latest edition because series Landies use 1950's technology

i'd second this, best thing i ever bought - and then also found in the back of me shed!! but then two copies might be handy.....
