OK, I've finally got round to fitting the winch to the bumper, and am now in the process of how to wire it, do I go for the split charge system, if so what batterys, or do I just upgrade the existing battery, if so what too?

I need to power a 9,500lb winch, a light bar, CD player, CB, a few auxilleries every now and again such as a kettle and mini fridge, all general usage of the Defender and an alarm/immobiliser.

Any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated

yu need a second battery - as powerful (CCA) as you can get, a split charge system and upgrade the alternator to 110A at least.

The alternator is done, needed a new one so got it uprated at the time, can u recommend a split chrage sytem that doesnt break the bank? Anyone reccomend batteries?

Numax batteries are great and good value. I got mine online £68 delivered. Numax CXV-X 1000 Amp - Leisure Batteries - Numax Leisure Batteries

Just buy the split charge from X-Eng

Cheers folks that system looks good, fitting instructions are good too! Can it b linked to a dash mounted charge indicator?
