I have a 2004 Disco 2 Es Premium. It has the large tube type roof bars. I have no idea what they are for apat from holding on to when washing the roof... Can anyone shed some light please? Is there cross bars that fit on to the tubes?

Thanks

Padraig

They are skids for the snow. Just turn the disco upside down with the reverse gravity switch (next to the 3rd dimension button) and away you go ;)

When the Germans had their iron in the land rover fire, they decided that roof bars would be a good idea for carrying skis....

I think he means this type.....

i thought tata added them so they can increase the amount of passengers you can carry.

Are they a factory fit? Reckon there must be summit similar to what i posted that will fit.

Roof bars, just a disco 1&2 design thing. Something I've never needed, my unused cross bars are in a bag along with the jack handle are under my back seat been there for nearly 16 years, I should sell they them on e.bay as vintage. :)

Never understood why they never made them full length, then decided to sell rear extensions as an extra.

Could've been to make a bit more money.

I could really do with the rear extensions so I can fit some properly spaced ladder racks instead of the huge tall unsightly things that fix to the gutters.

just got a set from someone on another forum expensive but cheaper and imho look better than gutter mounted racks and don't mangle your gutters.

I've just bought a 2001 disco E td5 and its got no roof bars at all and by the looks of it no where to add them on? is it possible somehow to add some on?

the roof bars are for cross bars to be attached to. for carrying a ladder ect. or for attaching a roof box. if you do buy some be carefull as it would seem you have the thicker roof bars which are not so common as the thinner ones usually fitted.
