Hi all – northumbrian numpty here again!

I know overheating p38’s have been done to death, reincarnated and done to death again more times than anything else but just wondering if anyone can point to what im missing!

Ive a 1995 4.0 petrol with multipoint lpg – it has done around 200k

When I got it (stole it) from my father in law he said “ it boils up now and again but is always fine after” – I had the rad, water pump, and thermostat changed when I got her and had no problems for about 20k miles then when I stopped one day after a long drive the temp shot up as i was slowing to park, I heard the boiling over from the overflow and the pressure cap had opened, let it cool, refilled and it lasted about 2 miles on the test dive after till temp shot up again and blew the coolant out again, this happened about 3 times then I made it home, came out the next day to scratch head at it and took it out and it was no problem, temp stayed normal and ran well – has been fine for the last 80K including towing and several drives from northumberland to devon with no issues at all... until this weekend and the same story – boiling over and refilling a few times then fine and been fine for the last few days including a 30min traffic jam this morning – any ideas? Im thinking maybe to try another thermostat again but cant rationalise why in my head!

Did you have a good quality replacement waterpump fitted; ie with a metal impeller? Lots have plastic. I fitted a britpart one (Iknow, I know) a few years back and it lasted about 6 months before part of the plastic broke off.
