I am currently looking at buying a air compressor for spraying my landy and general bits and bobs. But I am a bit confused as to which one to buy as there are different hp different litre tanks and bar pressure so any advice welcome???
The basic advice is the bigger the reservoir/ tank , the less the motor has to run. I have a 100L 3Hp from Machine mart that does all of my landy jobs no problem.
get a couple of old gas bottles ,fit a y piece and use as extra reservoir capacity ,certainly helps with higher air usage tools, plus you also have potable compressed air
If your gonna run air tools as well, like jamesmartin says you need at least 100l tank,3 hp motor, and 14 cfm.All my tools ar electric,I use a 50l 3hp and spray a panel at a time, that works for me.
I use a 100L tank for spraying, It wont keep up doing a full landrover but a couple of panels at a time and it's fine.
Not got many air tools, I used to have a d.a but the compressor would struggle to keep up if used constantly and it's noisy as hell, Now bought an electric one and much better and quitter.
Here's the same sort of thread about mine from last year. http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f37/compressors-226882.html
Although the tank is only 50 litres, I've not really found that to be a limitation. It just means the motor comes on to fill it up. After all, your trigger isn't pressed all the time, and you keep needing to reposition the tool and, in my case, straighten your back occasionally, so it has no trouble keeping up. Plus I can single-handedly chuck it in the back of the car and take it with me.
