Leaks an prone to bits dropping off
:doh::doh:

Gearbox swap day.......ish

Started at 8am, got the seats/box/floor stripped out, gearbox disconnected ready to come out by 11am.....brilliant I think......
Pull off the overdrive while waiting for a mate to come give me a hand lift the box out and while fitting it to the new box notice the clutch slave is on the other side.....now I've been here before......6cyl boxes have the slave on the left and I know the bell housing doesn't fit a 200tdi so I have a fit of my very own:mad::mad::mad::rolleyes:

Up shot is I make about a hundred phone calls trying to source another box, pull the old one out and take it to bits to find 3rd is missing 2 teeth.....more calls trying to source a 3rd gear only to find transfer box has less teeth than I do .....More calls......much head butting of walls :frusty: only to find out just as its getting dark that late series 3 boxes ALSO have the slave on the same side as a 6cyl and frantic measuring confirms the bell-housing WILL fit.

Spent the last couple of hours, by torchlight, swapping mounts, fitting overdrive (again), taking off a mount and putting it back on the right way up :eek: until is finally ready to go in.

Discovered a new form of hitching that doesn't involve any vehicles

Hope tomorrow is less 'interesting'.....

Most of my tools would have been thrown the length of my garden in fits of temper but well done, should be a breeze tomorrow though.

you surely mean the weather? I'm sure it will be stormy and cold/wet/as miserable as it can get tomorrow... :D

but good luck anyway

I'm doing the diff seal and half shaft gasket this weekend. as well as searching for the new-ish oil leak. and fabricating a new under-wing panel. outside. and it's so cold here that even my dog doesnt want to go walkies in the evening and mornings

I have a simple technique:
If it rains: under the car (oil changes, diff seals, oil leaks...)
if it doesnt: everything else

so, there are a lot of rainy days in for a landy

it allways rains oil under a landy dont it?

Spent most of the day stood outside leaning in and lying on wet concrete is never a lot of fun so I'm grateful it never got worse than a light drizzle

Its great the things you learn.........

like at some point LR changed the handbrake link.....and if its seized on the arm from the drum you can't get anything on it to undo it, no matter how much you swear, and you have to undo the mountings to lift it out and up AGAIN!!!:mad::doh:................went in nice and easy both times though so its all good

In and sorted :5bparty: and it seems like a goodun.....

Off to the woods tomorrow so she'll get a proper test :D
