Help, i've just bought a 3 door freelander and have traced the damp smell to a swimming pool in the boot.
I've taken the carpet out to dry as it's soaked - i read somewhere this is down to a seal, does anyone know which one?

I have the same problem. I have found the boot all wet several times already. Any ides on how to solve it?

Common problem and the dealers should know how to fix it - not sure what the fix is myself, ours was done under warrenty.

i've just noticed today that i have the same problem!!

going to take it to the warenty place tomorrow as its only 5 months old!

I'll ask what they do to fix it!

the fix is replacing rear door seal with a better modified seal also putting the harness for rear dooor eletrics inside door panel so water runs away better hope this helps tiga

I took it down to my local dealership they said there going to need it for 2 days next week! The problem i got is i fitted an after market reversing aid which i'm worried has somehow voided my warranty, do u think this it true??

hi no i dont think the reverse sensors will void your warrenty,they say 2 days as they need to remove carpet and dry out and the sealent takes 24hrs to dry and they also need to retest to make sure they have fixed it,trust me water leaks are not just a pain in the arm for owners also the poor buggers that have to fix the water leaks on landrovers we dont build them just have to repair them so have a thought next time it leaks not all water leaks are easy to find ask yourself would you want to fix it,hope all goes well cheers tiga

I also have the seemingly common issue regarding the swimming pool in the rear cubby. I cannot trace where the water is coming in? The car is out of warranty and I dont really want to pay Land Rover to fix a seal. Can anyone advise me? Phil

They fixed mine by replaceing the trim round the rear window, maybe u can just get this part? hope this helps.

Hello,

I had a similar problem, opened up the cubby hole, found it soaking and do not know how water got in. I have left the cubby hole open when I can to dry it out. With the exhaust silencer located under the cubby hole, it dried out quiet quickly with the cubby door open. With the cubby hole shut, the water has nowhere to go. I am going to monitor situation to see if by leaving it open when I can, will the problem never be so serious as to go to the expense of changing seals etc. We shall see.

Hi, have any of you noticed this wet boot during the summer months? My boot is as dry as a cork until the cold frosty weather starts, so I had a look and found the cubby hole soaking, but the rest of the boot completely dry, I then noticed the under side of the cubby lid was dripping with condensation, which was then collecting in the lower left part of cubby hole. I dried it all out and drilled half a dozen 10mm holes in the cubby lid and lo and behold no more condensation!!
It wasn't external water getting in, so check first before shelling out for new seals.
