All this talk about Escorts, when things were simple, must say I spent most of the weekend getting my mk1 Cortina going bin layed up 15 years put fresh fuel in battery on and she fired up with a lot of spitting back in the side drafts but she runs, cant se a new car doing that after so long:D

most of the new cars on here cant last a couple of days without getting their knickers in a twist.
I do like the Cortina, i always wanted a Mk 2 1600E, and I probably could of had one of those as well as my MK1 restored for the money i have spent on the L322, and I'm not finished yet, i don't think I will ever be finished.....

Got any pics of the Tincorner?

Love it, sounds like the engine management ECU might be faulty:D

My escort used to pop back through the carb, set fire to itself once on my mates drive and I couldn't find my pliers for the bonnet catch but managed to put it out before the fire brigade turned up...

I had a twin choke webber on a 1600 xflow, are they twin 40's ?

Sounded a lot better once it warmed up a bit

Yes twin 40 webers, ran better once fuel got through, very cold engine no choke and not started for about 13 years, 145bhp 1500cc prexflow should be fun

so it ran like a ford then!! :D

You cant beat a good classic ford :D as they say old fords never die some fool keeps putting um back together

my mk1 was my first car that i paid £100 for in 1988 i think it was, i gave it away once and it came back without an engine, i bought all the mexico panels for it and then sold them again for £100, one day it will go back on the road....
