Why not drop the sump, remove a bearing cap and check the bearings and crank for wear/damage??.......like they used to do before the consumable replacement society was born

Now there's some top advice. An hour with some spanners and you will know for sure.

Let me know how you get on

i could be interested myself if you are set on selling it

is it auto or manual

yep selling it £500 bring your own wheels or £800
des manual not sure about driving home?????

acording to some off the guys on here you can but ive just not the time or the heart

kinell mate, surely you can drop the sump etc, have it all ready for one of those mobile mechs to come and change the bearings,it would be better than taking a big loss on it.

seems like they are talking crank regrind as well as shellsthink its better to change engine

If the crank journals are clean and undamaged, changing the shells should be o.k.
Problem arises with the rear main bearing cap removal though because it carries the rear crank seal. It would be fairly safe to assume though that if the other mains are good, that should be the same.
Got nothing to loose though by dropping the sump, removing the big end caps together with the mains caps (One at a time, to prevent crank hanging) and seeing what state they are in. If they are fecked..at least you will know for certain !!!
