...... as I said, I have never been before. Guess what? I loved it!! I have never used my Disco in low range or needed to use the Diff Lock before. What an amazing bit of kit. It just kept going.

I'm sure it sounds very tame to a lot of fun, but it was great. I have created a little album on my profile if you're interested.

My mate was pretty disappointed though. East Northants and Beds Councils seem to have closed a lot of the lanes due to "recent rain" etc. My mate thinks the bottle hat brigade have influenced things. The lanes will be reviewed, but lot of heavy duty galvanised gates and, I believe, concrete bollards on some cases, suggests otherwise.

Does anyone know if lanes in the Oundle/Peterborough area are open.

Thanks.

Nice one, glad you enjoyed it. ;)

If you're ever coming up to Doncaster there's a load of green lanes that are freelander safe .. so good for anyone to learn on! There's a couple that are a little awkward but lovely scenery, just send me a pm if you'd like to drive them.

Alot of the Northamptonshire lanes are seasonal, open between April and November. I had no idea that they close them due to the weather.

Seems a bit anal.

You're right, but these were temporary laminated notices strapped to posts saying they had been closed from May 23rd. Somewhere located about half a mile down the cinder/gravel tracks so you had tow turn around when you got there. Very bl**dy helpful.

Hmmmm seems very bizarre.

Well now you've got the bug, keep an eye on the Warwickshire thread in greenlaning for some cracking days out.

The lanes around oundle are open, I did the yarwell ones on my own yesterday.

They are pretty awful though, really shouldnt have driven it, as I only just made it through, but with all the rain we have had, its a proper mud bath!

If it helps anyone interested in East Northants:

Closed:

Swineshead/Upper & Lower Deene
Shelton/Yieldon
Sharnbrook/SantaPod
Newton Bromswold/Knotting
Farndish/Wymington

Open:

Tilbrook/Spaldwick/Easton/Grafham Water

marcp .... then you shouldn't have driven it, if you churn it to buggery we're all more likely to get them closed mate
