I've sent a message innocently asking what year it is (as 1976 must be a mistake, like) and if the 300 engine is a conversion or the original factory fitted one, let's see if he answers.
 
The engine may well be a conversion, but how will he explain the defender chassis, bulkhead, body, gearbox, and suspension and axles.

Thankyou for your reply, I'm interested in the land rover but i would like a bit more information, you say it's a 1976 model that has been modified, could you tell me which parts of the vehicle are from the original 1976 landrover? also, did the previous owner give you the receipts for the parts he used to modify it, ie the engine, body work etc?

I think you'll find it has 1976 tyres on and that's all. :cool:

Not even the tyres it seems:

i got told it was a hybred if that means anything to ya, father in law was previous owner for 18 months before me. got no reipts for modify but do for all works i have had done at land rover specialist, ie cam belt tyres shockers. only done 1000 miles on new tyres

im only up road from him, im thinking about going through wi a few lads, identifying its real age etc and ringing police while im there. watch him **** him self
 
I just asked the following.

Does the Defender have coil suspension or cart type springs and do you have a buy it now price in mind?

nothing will come of it.Ebay is probbably the best place to shift a ringer
 
His reply to my questions is:-

"car type springs, i want 2900 on it mate. just been offered 2800 on it and tempted!"

So it must have been one of those test bed things Landrover did :confused:

I wonder if he knows or if he has just discovered and wants rid.
