Hi Guys ! I will be venturing into land rover ownership this week as Im picking up a late 80s 2.5 turbo 90 - no doubt I will need the expertise of this forum ! (I have a few questions already) I will post questions once I have had a search around here...

I have never had a land rover before, but I have had many a classic (old!) car so I am used to spinning a spanner when needed... looking forward to getting it and fixing her up a bit. Cheers anyway - Big G

Look all over the chassis for rust. Look around on ere fer buying guides fer tratters.

Thanks - not sure what tratters are? The chassis looked solid from what I could see, but I’m definitely no expert.

Fergot to say... if yer not an eggspurt or at least knowledgeable to some extend on tratters then get someone who is to look at it for you. The chassis may look ok on the outside but it's the inside that goes first. They tend to rust from the inside out. Someone with eggsperience will be able to tell if things are none standard etc.

Ha! well it’s definitely square ! With a few dents here and there. I’ve been trying to search on line to find any info, but all I can find is about the defender models or the older MkIII etc

Oh dear...Hope mine is going to be ok! I mean realistically, it’s a 30 year old British built car so if it gets me back home I will be surprised.

Yer buying a 30 year ole vehicle. It will have had many repairs over the years. Someone on ere may go and look at it with yer if yer ask int tratter section fer help.

Take a small hammer and listen out for the thud of doom!! ;)

Give it a good whack in some suspect areas!

I would recommend asking permission beforehand, if they refuse then it might be an indication of some skulduggery.

Cheers

Nice one - I have already decided to buy it ...no turning back now ! it drove “nicely” and ran well -( well it runs !) it was within budget and buying it on a whim really as I was looking for a runabout van - I have another main vehicle and this one came up
